Bugs of…. Atlantis?
This is another polymer clay piece on wood. It’s about 7.5″ wide by 6″ tall. It photographs terribly.
I wanted to do another piece with some of my favorite subjects (beetles and flowers). But, I wanted to try something different. I love the idea of finding things in deep sea wrecks. I love how crusty they look with a heavy patina. This is my attempt at trying to recreate something that looks really old and unearthed after many years.

I think what I love about this one the most is the contrast with the earlier work. Because it is so subdued, the piece invites the eye to look closer, really get in there and see what is going on. And of course, you are instantly rewarded by all the tiny bits of detail hiding beneath the layers of age and “Undersea” corrosion.
This is not the most “jump out and grab you by the throat” work posted here, but it is certainly one of the most interesting, and quietly fun.
