Walk on the Beach
This morning we decided to drive to the beach for breakfast and then take a walk on the beach.
At breakfast, I discovered this spicy ketchup. Man, it would be so good with fries. I cannot be trusted with it. I will never ever buy this stuff.
The beach weather was great and had to take an obligatory sunrise shot.
What is left of an old pier.
The best photos of a ghost crab I will probably ever get. We discovered if you wave your hands around the crabs freeze in place and you can take a closer photo (we still relied heavily on the zoom function). They must think they might be birds. We also made bird noises, but I doubt that added anything except entertainment for people walking by.
Hummingbird moth (or maybe a Nessus Sphinx). It was on the wet sand trying frantically to dry its wings while the wind threatened to blow him into the ocean. Mostly, he was waterlogged after a night of bad decision-making. I placed him higher up in the dry dunes with some plant cover so he could recover.
Sea beans? We saw a lot of them. Looks like they washed up – but not sure from where. They look more like a land plant vs marine plant. But, I don’t know what they are. They did have this very interesting honeycomb pattern of spots on them. You can see that in the second photo easier.
Another mystery plant…
When we got home, I found this very cool little brown moth on the door. I think it is a Cissua spadix (black dotted brown moth).
Very nice. Thank you.
Please tell me about the ring in the shot with the moth.
The silver ring says “let go”. It’s a daily reminder for me to “let go” of fear, anxiety, arguments, weight, attachments, etc. 🙂
